Product Insights
The Simons Maison Solid Percale Plus Sheet, a fifth-generation family business with Canadian design, offers a crisp, matte, wrinkle-free feel at a budget-friendly price of $18 (sale $9.99) using 50% cotton and 50% recycled polyester that reduces energy use by 59% and CO2 by 71% compared to virgin polyester. However, the polyester blend reduces breathability, making the sheets feel warmer, and the crisp texture remains without softening, which some find scratchy; the fitted sheet fits mattresses up to 16 inches but not pillow-top styles.
Verified claims
- Texture
- The 50% cotton, 50% recycled polyester percale has a matte, crisp hand that doesn't soften and some find scratchy.
- Breathability
- Buyers report the polyester blend reduces breathability, making the sheets feel warmer than pure cotton.
- Wrinkle resistance
- The 50% cotton/50% recycled polyester percale resists wrinkling because the polyester is intrinsic to the yarn, not a topical finish, so it usually comes out of the dryer crisp enough to skip ironing wash after wash; one buyer notes it is not totally wrinkle-free.
- Value
- At $18 ($9.99 sale), the sheet offers durable crisp feel and easy care at a budget-friendly price.
- Fit
- One buyer reports the fitted sheet fits their 16-inch mattress perfectly even though the listed spec is up to 15 inches.
- Pillow-top compatibility
- Not suitable for pillow-top or extra-padded mattresses exceeding designed depth.
- Washing
- Wash in cool water, tumble dry low; no ironing needed.
- Crispness
- Buyers report it stays crisp but may not soften like all-cotton.
- Heritage
- Simons Maison: fifth-generation family business with Canadian design.
- Environmental impact
- 59% less energy and 71% less CO2 than virgin polyester.
- Colorfastness
- Grade 4-5 colorfastness keeps colors vibrant wash after wash.
- Twin-size fit
- The twin size is designed to fit mattresses up to 13 inches deep, while standard sizes fit up to 15 inches.
- Pilling resistance
- The tight percale weave and polyester blend make the sheet pill-resistant, and a repeat buyer reports the sheets are soft, washable, and don't pill.
- Ease of care
- Buyers report the sheets wash and dry well and stand up to multiple washings.
- Budget positioning
- Slumber.ca's 2026 Canadian percale roundup named this sheet the 'Best Budget' option.
- Shrinkage resistance
- The polycotton percale shrinks far less than pure cotton—typically under 1% after washing—so the fitted sheet's 15-inch pocket depth stays true.
- Sheet dimensions
- Flat sheets measure Twin 68 × 94 in, Double 89 × 97 in, Queen 95 × 102 in, and King 113 × 102 in; fitted sheets measure Twin 39 × 75 in (13 in deep), Double 54 × 75 in (15 in deep), Queen 60 × 80 in (15 in deep), and King 78 × 80 in (15 in deep), with a Twin XL fitted of 39 × 80 in and standard or queen pillowcases available separately.
- Expected lifespan
- The polycotton percale construction typically endures 3–5 years of weekly washing, compared with 2–4 years for a pure cotton percale, because the polyester reinforcement resists thinning and tearing.
- Thread count quality
- The 200 thread count is not a stripped-down number: a one-over-one percale weave needs roughly 200 threads per inch just to hold its structure, and percale feel and durability peak in the 200–400 range.

Fitting deep mattresses without popping off
Shoppers with thicker mattresses can use this fitted sheet, which the merchant lists as fitting mattresses up to 15 inches deep (up to 13 inches for the twin size). A review analysis describes its all-around elastic as keeping the sheet snug so it stays in place on deep-pocket mattresses, though the underlying reviews weren't available to confirm this.[1]
Extralong fitted sheet for adjustable beds
The Solid Percale Plus extralong fitted sheet is designed for adjustable beds and is also available in twin size. It runs 5 inches longer than a standard twin mattress, making it an option for outfitting a twin adjustable setup.[1]
A cool, breathable sheet for hot sleepers and warm nights
Based on customer reviews, this percale sheet is suited to hot sleepers or warm summer nights. Reviewers describe the breathable cotton weave as wicking moisture and staying cool to the touch, keeping sleep cool and comfortable. The deep fit accommodates mattresses up to 15 inches thick.[1]
Everyday sheets built to last for years
Shoppers looking for a long-term everyday sheet set may consider this percale plus sheet, which the merchant describes as durable and known for its longevity. Customer reviews, as summarized in an analysis rather than direct testimony, report the sheets holding up through years of regular washing without pilling, thinning, or losing shape or softness. The crease-resistant, easy-care fabric suits frequent laundering as part of a regular bedding rotation.[1]
Easy-care sheets that come out of the wash looking smooth
These percale sheets are designed for low-maintenance bedding care — the fabric is crease-resistant and easy care, according to the merchant. Customer reviews describe them as washing and drying without shrinking or wrinkling excessively, so they're a fit if you want bed sheets that stay looking neat with minimal fuss.[1]
Coordinating sheet colors with your linens and décor
Pick from a wide range of colors to mix and match this sheet with your other linens and coordinate your bedroom's look. Customer reviews summarized by the retailer describe the colors as adding a decorative touch and appearing true to what's shown on screen.[1]
For a crisp, hotel-style bed look on a budget
Shoppers looking to recreate a luxury hotel aesthetic on a budget have chosen this sheet for its crisp finish and wide color range, according to an analysis of customer reviews. Note that the crisp percale feel is matte and papery rather than silky, which reviewers suggest may disappoint if softness is your top priority.[1]

|---|---|---|
| Solid Percale Plus Sheet 200-Thread-Count Fits Mattresses Up To 15 In: Choose this if you want easy-care, long-lasting bedding: the crease-resistant 200-thread-count percale blend of 50% cotton and 50% recycled polyester is presented by the brand as durable and low-maintenance, and review analyses describe it as breathable and cool-suited to hot sleepers and warm nights. It comes in seven colors across flat, fitted, pillowcase, and extra-long twin fitted options, with the fitted sheet fitting mattresses up to 15 inches deep (up to 13 inches for twin). Note that sheets and pillowcases are each sold separately, and per its crisp percale finish the fabric feels matte and papery rather than silky, which may disappoint if buttery softness is your priority.[1] | Bamboo Rayon And Organic Cotton Sheet Set 300-Thread-Count Fits Mattresses Up To 16 In: Choose this if you want sheets that blend the softness of bamboo rayon with breathable organic cotton — this 60% responsibly sourced bamboo and 40% organic cotton set is described by Simons as supple, silky soft and temperature-adjusting, and slumber.ca named it its Best Organic pick. It is a 300-thread-count set (flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcases) offered in Twin, Double, Queen and King sizes, with the fitted sheet made to fit mattresses up to 16 inches deep — though note the Twin set's fitted sheet is only 13 inches deep. Expect a smooth, single-color fabric with a subtle satin-like sheen and stitched, envelope-style pillowcase openings.[2,3,4] | Stonewashed Lyocell Sheet Set Fits Mattresses Up To 16 In: Choose this if you sleep hot or want soft, breathable bedding: the 100% TENCEL lyocell, stonewashed for a soft matte look, is described by reviewers as moisture-wicking and cool against the skin, with praise for hot summers and night sweats. The fitted sheets have 16-inch pocket depth (13 inches on the Twin) for mattresses up to 16 inches, and the set comes in Twin, Double, Queen, and King sizes at a 230 thread count. Note that reviewers report dark colours can bleed dye onto clothes and surfaces even after washing, and the pillowcases may be oversized for standard pillows, so check dimensions and colour expectations before ordering.[5,6] |

Soft and smooth
A little more yellow in colour than I expected but that’s ok. Also I wasn’t really aware of what percale was when I ordered lol but it does have that crisp/cool feel to it like hotel sheets which will be good for summer.

Commenter warns about polyester in Simons percale plus sheets
I would just avoid polyester is anything - so anything labeled percale plus at Simons as they have polyester in them. It's terrible for you to sleep in air circulation wise and not nice for you hair and skin long term.
