Product Insights
The Kim Ice Blue Signet Ring by Tom Wood, priced at $559 CAD and in stock, is a hand-finished ring from RJC-certified Thai factories using recycled 925 silver, rhodium, and pectolite from a finite deposit. It features a mixed-metal bezel and a balanced, subtle fit. However, the pectolite is soft and light-sensitive, prone to fading and chipping, while the rhodium plating may show spots and premature wear due to casting porosity. Re-plating is possible but adds ongoing cost. The price reflects brand cachet more than material quality or durability, positioning the ring as a style statement rather than a heirloom piece.
Verified claims
- Plating durability
- Buyers report the rhodium plating can develop spots or wear prematurely, attributed to casting porosity or plating issues.
- Re-plating
- Re-plating is possible at a jeweler if the rhodium plating wears or develops spots.
- Care instructions
- Protect from scratches, impacts, and chemicals; remove before activities; clean gently.
- Lightfastness
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure; store away from UV light when not wearing.
- Value
- Buyer sentiment suggests the price reflects brand appeal more than material quality or durability.
- Craftsmanship
- Made in Thailand, where a long silversmithing tradition and recognized cabochon and bezel setting expertise shape the ring's construction.
- Durability & Care
- Pectolite from a finite deposit is soft and light-sensitive; clean only with mild soap, lukewarm water, and a soft brush.
- Silver sourcing
- Recycled 925 silver and rhodium, with pectolite stone, from RJC-certified Thai factories.
- Stone care
- Pectolite can fade in sunlight and chip on impact; handle accordingly.
- Style
- Same style as Daniel Simmons's signet ring.
- Mixed metal bezel
- Gold-toned bezel rim adds a mixed-metal accent to the silver shank.
- Stone hardness
- Pectolite has a Mohs hardness of 4.5–5, softer than quartz and vulnerable to scratches from common materials like quartz countertops or steel keys.
- Cleaning restrictions
- Ultrasonic or steam cleaners risk fracturing or discolouring the pectolite; only mild soap, lukewarm water, and a soft brush are safe.
- Aesthetic
- The Kim signet ring shares Tom Wood's minimalist, functional aesthetic with recycled silver and rhodium plating and an engraved logo.
- Ethical production
- Thailand's jewelry industry has seen a surge in RJC-certified factories and recycled-metal processing, reinforcing the ring's recycled silver and rhodium story.

Tom Wood signet ring design and quality sentiment
I definitely bought into the hype for sure. It’s a consumer facing brand, minimal branding and simple designs that I enjoy. All things considered it does sit very nicely on the fingers and don’t feel overly heavy or too light. Has a great shape too and doesn’t envelop my hands or stand out too much. Just wished the quality was as good as their design.
