Deep Research

Fit and styling with a 4-inch inseam

  • The 4-inch cut exposes more thigh than the 5-inch shorts often cited as ideal for athletic builds, making it a high-confidence option that spotlights leg definition — a fit principle echoed by styling authorities that suggest shorter inseams for showcasing physique.
  • Swimwear stylists like Rik Van Donk of Mocha Salt advise that a well-cut trunk should hit above the knee to avoid a baggy, unflattering silhouette; with a 4-inch inseam, these shorts sit several inches clear of the knee on most builds, delivering exactly that tailored, sharp look.
  • This 4-inch trunk sits within the revival of 1980s-era short inseams that Esquire notes are 'right back in style today,' reflecting a menswear pivot away from baggy, knee-length boardshorts toward cleaner, more tailored proportions that read as current and intentional.
  • For men under 5'8'', this 4-inch inseam acts as a leg-lengthening tool that avoids the visual shortening caused by longer trunks; style guides like The Gentleman's Journal specifically urge shorter men to 'be brave' with a shorter short, a principle built on the same 'longer leg illusion' that Styling Mania calls out for shorter inseams.
  • The 4-inch measurement falls into the 'short, sporty, fashion-forward' category commonly used by style editors, sitting high on the thigh and creating a modern, trend-forward swim silhouette distinct from the more conservative 7–9-inch lengths.

Price compared to other recycled swim trunks

  • At $19.99, the Simons trunk undercuts the Chenot recycled swim trunk by 56%, despite both using near-identical 91-92% recycled polyester/8-9% spandex quick-dry stretch fabrics — a cost gap that makes the clearance price a standout entry point into recycled swimwear.
  • While the Chenot trunk adds four-way stretch and a water-repellent finish to justify its $44.95 regular price, the Simons trunk focuses on core recycled performance — quick-dry, single-layer stretch, zip back pocket — and at $19.99 delivers the essential eco swim feature set at less than half the cost, making it the value pick for buyers who don't need advanced fabric treatments.

How recycled polyester holds up in the water

  • Producing recycled polyester from post-consumer bottles emits 32% less CO2 and uses 59% less energy than virgin polyester, so the trunks carry a significantly smaller environmental footprint while delivering identical swim performance.
  • In a saltwater immersion test, a recycled polyester fabric dried to baseline in 2 hours versus 4 hours 45 minutes for merino wool — almost 3 hours faster — because polyester’s moisture regain is just 0.4%, meaning it absorbs virtually no water into the fiber; water sits on the surface and evaporates quickly, so the shorts go from swimming to dry comfort far faster than natural-fiber alternatives.
  • Recycled polyester withstands chlorine as well as virgin polyester — the primary chemical that degrades swimwear — so the fabric resists fading, sagging, and brittleness through repeated pool sessions; polyester inherently handles chlorine better than nylon, making these trunks a longer-lived choice for regular pool swimmers.

Perfect match ! Unique design !

Leila B.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend after getting him the matching shirt and he loves it! The print is so unique and we get lots of compliments. The quality is really good and the price is fair. Honestly, if it were more expensive, I probably wouldn’t have bought it but at this price, it’s totally worth it. I just wish there was a women’s swimsuit with the same amazing print since I have also the shirt for women !

Best swim shorts I’ve had

Patrick B.

Not only do I receive compliments on the fun design/print on theses they are genuinely the best fitting swimsuit I have purchased. I love the built in stretch undergarment. It does not bunch up like typical swim shorts. You can easily wear these all day inside and outside of the water. They also dry very fast.

Q&A

2 answered
How does the sizing run compared to typical waist sizes? Should we size up or down for a regular fit?
The elastic waist and drawcord provide adjustability, and the 8% spandex offers stretch, so we recommend ordering your usual size for a regular fit. If between sizes, consider sizing up for a looser fit.
What are the specific care instructions? Can these be machine washed and tumble dried?
We recommend machine washing cold with like colors, gentle cycle, and hanging to dry or tumble drying on low. Avoid bleach and fabric softener to extend the life of the fabric.
