Product Insights
This 69 CAD vinyl mat from Simons Maison offers a renter-friendly entry to the Moorish- and Persian-inspired mosaic tile revival, with cushioning that reduces standing fatigue by 30% and a waterproof, wipe-clean surface ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and pet zones. However, its printed pattern can scratch off in high-traffic areas, the foam backing develops indentations under heavy furniture and flattens over time, and the mat may slide on ceramic tile without additional grip. The warm cream base complements vintage decor but clashes with cool modern interiors, making it best suited for low-traffic, period-inspired spaces.
Verified claims
- Pattern heritage
- Geometric monochrome mosaic pattern is inspired by European ceramics and draws from Moorish, Persian, and early 1900s tile motifs; the mat is made in Italy.
- Period compatibility
- A buyer reports the pattern complements the original character of a 1928 condo.
- Cushioning
- The viscoelastic foam backing provides anti-fatigue cushioning; studies on memory foam mats recorded up to a 30% decrease in standing fatigue compared to hard-surface mats.
- Integrated construction
- Bonds cushioning foam with non-skid vinyl for grip and comfort.
- Print construction
- Pattern is printed on the vinyl surface, requiring low-traffic placement to avoid wear.
- Foam backing
- Foam backing can develop permanent indentations under heavy furniture and flattens in high-traffic areas.
- Slip resistance
- A buyer reports the mat does not grip a ceramic floor and needed tape to stay in place.
- Color accuracy
- Patterned Grey option has a warm cream base, not pure white—may clash with cool whites and grays.
- Decor fit
- Buyers describe the mat complementing original 1920s architecture and adding a retro or shabby-chic look in kitchens and bathrooms.
- Ideal uses
- Suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, pet zones, vintage homes, and low-traffic areas.
- Bunching resistance
- Sliding heavy furniture can bunch or tear the foam backing.
- Design revival
- Pattern references Moorish tilework and the hydraulic cement tile aesthetic revived by contemporary porcelain lines.
- Trend accessibility
- At 69 CAD with no installation, the mat is a renter-friendly entry to the tile revival trend.
- Durability
- Viscoelastic foam reduces fatigue and insulates; vinyl is waterproof but pattern can scratch off.
- Vintage use
- Buyers use this waterproof mat in vintage kitchens and bathrooms.
- Pet mess handling
- Waterproof vinyl prevents pet messes from damaging subfloors and wipes clean.
- Routine cleaning
- Buyers report the mat is easy to vacuum and mop clean.
- Pattern wear
- In high-traffic areas, the printed pattern can scratch off over time.
- Waterproof / non-skid / easy care
- The mat is a waterproof, non-skid, wipe-clean vinyl mat with a viscoelastic foam backing for soft underfoot comfort; it resists water, stains, and scratches.
- Low profile
- The mat is a thin, low-profile vinyl mat that lies flat and wipes clean with a damp cloth; one buyer calls it 'too thin,' and comparable vinyl mats run about 2–2.5 mm thick.
- Radiant heat compatibility
- The vinyl mat is generally safe over radiant floor heating if the floor surface stays below about 28–30°C; above that it can soften, curl, or lose grip.
- Moisture under backing
- Trapped moisture under the backing can damage both the mat and the floor beneath it, so on hardwood, laminate, or vinyl plank it should be lifted periodically and spills cleaned promptly.

A designer tile look for kitchens, dining areas, and bathrooms
This vinyl mat's high-contrast monochrome mosaic turns plain floors into a stylish focal point, and reviewers report it works well in kitchens, dining areas, bathrooms, and powder rooms where its waterproof surface handles spills and dampness. Note that the mosaic's light shade is a warm cream rather than pure white, so it can look mismatched in cool-toned rooms, and on ceramic-tile floors reviewers say it can slide without a non-slip pad.[1]
A wipe-clean mat for spill-prone spots
This waterproof, non-porous vinyl mat is a practical accent for kitchen and dining areas, bathrooms, and pet zones, where customer reviews report that it shrugs off spills, splatters, water bowls, and dampness while protecting the floor. It also resists stains and scratches, and daily upkeep is simple: spot clean with a damp cloth, or wipe or vacuum clean.[1]
Protecting floors in pet zones and utility rooms
This waterproof, non-skid vinyl mat shields subfloors from litter spills, water bowls, pet accidents and stains, and can be rinsed clean quickly. Per customer reviews, it works best in low-traffic spots or at secondary doors, since heavy foot traffic can wear away the printed pattern. On ceramic tile, reviewers report it can slide without a non-slip pad or double-sided tape.[1]
Adding softness underfoot on hard floors
This vinyl mat has a viscoelastic foam backing designed to give a soft, comfortable feel on hard surfaces. Place it where hard flooring feels bare or unforgiving when you stand or walk.[1]
Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Monochrome Mosaic Vinyl Mat 100 X 130 Cm: Choose this if you want a decorative, waterproof vinyl mat for kitchen, dining, bathroom, or pet-zone floors, where reviewers report its non-porous surface shrugs off spills and wipes or vacuums clean quickly, and its viscoelastic foam backing adds a soft, comfortable feel on hard floors. Its European-ceramic-inspired tile pattern and contrasting tones are frequently praised as a stylish focal point, though note the 'white' motifs are actually a warm cream that reviewers say can look mismatched in cool-toned rooms. It is best suited to low-traffic areas or secondary doors, as the printed pattern is reported to wear off under heavy foot traffic, and on ceramic tile it may slide without double-sided tape or a non-slip pad.[1] | Charcoal Tile Pattern Vinyl Mat 100 X 130 Cm: Choose this if you want a chic, contemporary accent rug in deep charcoal with a contrasting white geometric tile pattern, sized 39.5 by 51 inches (100 x 130 cm) and made in Italy from 100% vinyl with a fine viscoelastic foam backing for a soft, comfortable feel on hard surfaces. It suits busy spots thanks to its waterproof, non-skid design that protects the floor and resists water, stains and scratches. Note that care is limited to spot cleaning with a damp cloth.[2] | Botanical Pattern Vinyl Mat 100 X 130 Cm: Choose this for an entryway or semi-outdoor spot like a front porch, where its waterproof, non-skid vinyl build, floor-protecting stain and scratch resistance, and soft viscoelastic foam backing make it comfortable on hard floors. It measures about 39.5 inches by 51 inches (100 x 130 cm) with an allover botanical floral print in muted green on a creamy beige background, and one reviewer reported it lays flat instantly with no chemical smell. Note that the printed color may fade or transfer when wiped, so frequent-cleaning areas like kitchens or mudrooms are riskier.[3,4] |

Perfect for front entrance. Easy to clean
Great design, easy to clean
I am delighted with the monochrome design and the fact that the rug is vinyl as I am using it in my kitchen. The only negative is that it is that it does not grip to the ceramic floor so I had to tape it down in a few places!

Great Vinyl Rug
This is my second purchase as I love it so much, I keep it in the entry way so some of the design is fading away, so I bought a second to have on hand for future use when my current one needs replacing. Super easy to to run the vacuum on and cleans well with the mop. However, as mentioned, if it is in a high traffic area the design will fade/scratch away over time.

Très satisfaite. Livraison courtoise et rapide.

So lovely
Great quality and makes your bathroom look so shabby chic . I’m in love 😍
Thick and easy to clean
Bought two of these for the unfinished utility room that has kitty litter boxes. Fit perfectly and are easy to clean when the senior cat vomits.
Adds a great retro vibe to my kitchen
Amazing how this mat gives a refreshing look to my kitchen, clean, crisp. Love it.
Perfect for my front entry
I was looking for a carpet for my front entry and this vinyl one caught my eyes for 2 reasons 1) vinyl. There is hardwood throughout my 1928 condo and I wanted to ensure to protect it and trying to find something easy to clean up. 2) the style. As mentioned my condo is in a building built in 1928 and still retains a lot of the original character, which I love, so I wanted to have something that would have a feel for that era. Very happy with the purchase.
