Product Insights
Winter Bear Cubs Doormat 45 X 100 Cm Front: 100% coir fibre; back: PVC. Non-slip PVC backing with a textured dotted underside helps hold the mat in place and protects the floor underneath. Keep sheltered from bad weather; PVC-backed coir is not designed for exposed outdoor use. Coir mats are durable, but the centre wears faster than the edges; replace when the mat becomes thin enough to trip on.
Verified claims
- design
- Printed winter scene with two teddy bears skiing and skating among evergreen trees and snowflakes on a warm tan ground.
- variability
- The listed 'Assorted' colour refers to the multicolour print, not a random assortment; the same winter scene and one 45 x 100 cm size are offered.
- size
- 45 x 100 cm (18 x 40 in) rectangular doormat.
- material
- Front: 100% coir fibre; back: PVC.
- backing
- Non-slip PVC backing with a textured dotted underside helps hold the mat in place and protects the floor underneath.
- construction
- Dense coir pile with clean-cut edges and no sewn binding; avoid overbending or folding the mat, which can split the weave.
- comfort
- Coarse, firm underfoot; not a plush or barefoot-comfort mat.
- performance
- Short, tough coir bristles scrape dirt and absorb moisture from footwear before entry.
- weather
- Keep sheltered from bad weather; PVC-backed coir is not designed for exposed outdoor use.
- care
- If the mat gets soaked, lift it and let it dry fully before putting it back.
- care
- Easily wipes clean with a damp cloth for light surface marks.
- care
- For deeper cleaning, shake or brush the mat dry; use dry foam or cleaning powder for stubborn marks, and let mud dry before brushing.
- warning
- Do not vacuum with a standard vacuum; it can pull and unravel the coir. Use a brush attachment on low power only if needed.
- warning
- Do not use solvents or strong detergents; they can expand the PVC backing, damage the coir, or discolour the mat.
- care
- In winter, shake the mat outside weekly and rinse salt residue with a 1:10 vinegar-to-water solution if needed, then air-dry.
- durability
- Coir mats are durable, but the centre wears faster than the edges; replace when the mat becomes thin enough to trip on.
- durability
- Light unravelling of the coir fibres over time is normal and expected.
- styling
- Best suited to a covered entry, mudroom, or indoor winter-themed doorway; the playful bear motif makes it seasonal decor as much as a utility mat.
- value
- At 29 CAD for a coir/PVC doormat with a printed seasonal design, it is a reasonable seasonal-decor purchase.
- comparison
- PVC-backed coir is the more practical choice for indoor or mat-well use than unbacked coir: better grip, floor protection, and stability, but no drainage.
