Rains raincoat is like a pretty tarpaulin
These seem to be the best for stylish urban raincoats that are non-breathable, non-GoreTex. They are polyester or lined PVC, with Stutterheim being the premium and more expensive brand. Rains is like wearing a pretty tarpaulin.

Rains raincoat durability issues and limited waterproofing
Had a rains, bought one for my wife. I found them ok but not worth the full price tbh. They look great but the material i find doesnt last very long, mine started to fall apart after a while. Certainly fine for light showers and urban areas but not something that will keep you dry all day. But fine for a commute.

Shoulder seam leak design flaw
I liked my rains jacket until I wore it for a prolonged period in the rain. There’s a design flaw. Their shoulder seams catch water and it seeps in (slowly) and eventually you get wet underneath. Kind of a bummer
