Product Insights
The Le Bisou Gblack Leather Handbag by Jacquemus is a trend-driven, sculptural bag that earned rapid editorial and celebrity endorsement—named Vogue's Baguette Revival and Marie Claire UK's It-bag of 2023—but its glossy finish, thin construction, and limp structure draw criticism for looking cheap and prone to damage, while its seasonal trend cycle and quality inconsistencies (compared to Polène) make it a risky investment despite a price drop to $499.95.
Verified claims

- Marie Claire UK named the Le Bisou the bag 'set to be big news this year' in its January 2023 editorial.
- Glossy finish
- Glossy calf leather looks plastic, scratches easily, and needs careful care.

- Size utility
- Full-size fits a phone and daily essentials, offering twice the capacity of the Petit Bisou.
- Trend cycle
- Runway-to-retail in under a week places Le Bisou as a seasonal trend, not a classic.
- Durability
- Buyers report glossy finish shows wear quickly and straps look cheap over time.
- Large phone fit
- The Le Bisou fits an iPhone 16 Pro Max sideways with over 12 cm to spare, but its 7 cm depth forces a flat carry; a bulky continental wallet protrudes.
- Closure security
- The magnetic button flap stays securely closed during normal use but may not close as securely if the bag is overstuffed; there are no widespread reports of it popping open under normal conditions.
- Value for money
- Most buyers feel the Le Bisou is overpriced given quality issues and poor resale value, and cheaper alternatives like JW Pei are often recommended.

Detailed critique of why the pink Bisou looks cheap
Personally, these are 4 things I find in a design that make it look cheap: 1. Unnatural colours, which again, personally, I find cheapens a bag because they tend to make real leather read like plastic. At best, leather should have some kind of variation in its colour—not a complete shade. 2. Gloss, patent, and high-shine look incredible when the leather has weight (it can even take on a glow), but looks cheap when the shine is only at a surface level. 3. Thin straps, weak edges, limp structure, or hardware that feels too light, definitely. 4. Poor proportions, like a strap that looks too thin for the body, hardware that sits awkwardly, an opening that looks too narrow for the size of the body, or a body that is too long and too flat, which makes it look like a pouch instead. One more thing I'd note about the Bisou in pink is that the colour doesn’t look like it will deepen or soften, and in fact, will accrue damage very quickly. In contrast, grain, patina, slight irregularity, and a finish that looks like it will age well usually signify better quality (read: not necessarily more expensive in cost) leather.

Jacquemus has customer service and quality issues like Polene
It's a young trendy brand and I've also heard they have a lot of customer service and quality issues, kind of like polene. I think their bags are very eye catching which is why a lot of ppl on social media who may not be paid endorsements like them, but they don't have good resale value and are always coming out w new designs

Preference for Jacquemus snake effect over Wandler
Thanks for your suggestion. I originally wanted a white shoulder bag for summer day and night outings, but I ended up coming across these two in a snake finish. They still read as light bags to me. I think the Wandler Python has a much bolder snake effect, which isn’t really what I’m going for this time.
