MM6 X Salomon
Xt 15 Backpack
This MM6 x Salomon XT 15 backpack is a hybrid technical daypack from the collaborative capsule, designed for urban commuting and outdoor activities. It features a 100% polyamide body with a built-in ripstop waterproof cover, a large main compartment with double zip, secondary zip pockets, two stretch mesh water bottle pockets, and an adjustable harness with sternal straps and a padded abdominal strap. Measuring 42 x 26 x 8 cm, it offers a lightweight padded mesh back system; however, user feedback notes that fitting a 14-inch laptop deforms the pack and some bounce occurs during running.

Product Insights
The Xt 15 Backpack by MM6 X Salomon, debuted at the AW22 Milan runway show and worn by Rihanna at the 2023 Super Bowl, fuses Salomon's trail-running performance—full harness system, dual sternum straps, hip belt, hydration sleeve, waterproof ripstop cover—with MM6's minimalist aesthetic, including an all-black shell and signature horizontal topstitching. Weighing 556 g, it carries a 13-inch laptop and organizes work and gym gear across seven pockets, aiming to transition from trail to office. Yet, the fashion collaboration doubles the price to CAD $425, and runners may still experience bounce and shirt lift. The one-size pack fits torso lengths 38–43 cm, and a 14-inch laptop deforms it, limiting its appeal to those prioritizing style and low weight over perfect running stability or universal fit.

- Stability
Users report minor bounce, but the pack is still viable for endurance runs.
Why this is supported

trailsense.enwild.comDespite these features, users still experience some discomfort, as one reported:

u/DTMerc in r/fastpackingOverall, the pack balances stability and comfort for endurance runners.
- Fit
13-inch laptop without sleeve fits flat; 14-inch deforms the pack.
Why this is supported
Multiple sources confirm that the XT 15's slim 8 cm depth forces a flat load. One Reddit user states:
I can fit my laptop but it deforms the pack a bit. I think a 13" laptop without a sleeve/case would fit
u/DTMerc in r/fastpackingA Q&A answer agrees:

The slim profile is a deliberate design choice for a race-ready pack, as noted:

Fit, comfort, and performance during runs — sub_600g_build_for_momentum_controlTogether, these sources verify that the pack fits a 13-inch laptop without a sleeve but deforms with a 14-inch device, a tradeoff of its lightweight running-oriented design.
- Hip belt
Hip belt with pocket shifts load to hips and stores gear for on-run access.
Why this is supported
The padded hip belt is designed to transfer load from shoulders to hips. According to the manufacturer, it features a
large hip belt with pocket
maisonmargiela.comthat also serves as accessible storage for a smartphone or gels. The zippered pocket on the hip belt allows on-run access without having to remove or rotate the pack, helping maintain body stability on technical terrain.
- Stabilization
Dual sternum straps, bungee compression, and low-CG hydration sleeve prevent load shifting.
Why this is supported
The harness includes multiple stabilization mechanisms. The manufacturer lists
2 x sternum straps
maisonmargiela.comwhich distribute stabilizing tension without a single pinch point. Additionally, there is
a rear bungee system that doubles as a compression system for the pack
trailsense.enwild.comthat cinches the load flat against the back to eliminate internal shifting. A dedicated compartment allows
2l reservoir compatibility/specific compartment
maisonmargiela.comwhich positions the heaviest water weight flush against the spine and low, lowering the center of gravity so the pack doesn't pull backward.
- Bounce tradeoff
Despite design, some runners still notice bounce and shirt lift under load.
Why this is supported
Despite the stabilizing features, some users have reported experiencing a little bounce and shirt ride-up during runs, indicating that the pack is not completely immune to movement under dynamic loads.
- Hydration
3L hydration via front flask pockets and a centered reservoir sleeve, zippered for security.
Why this is supported
The XT 15's hydration system is directly adapted from Salomon's S/LAB race vests:
Hydration: 2 x zipped front pockets compatible with 500 ml flasks, 2l reservoir compatibility/specific compartment
maisonmargiela.com. This yields 3L total capacity (1L from the two front flasks and 2L from the centered reservoir), and the zippered pockets keep flasks secure during high-intensity activity.
- External attachment
Bungee and helmet buckles isolate sweaty gear from work essentials.
Why this is supported
The external bungee system, originally for trail use, gives commuters a way to lash a yoga mat or damp towel outside the pack,
keeping the main compartment dry and organised for clean office items
Laptop carry and everyday commuting — bungee_overflow_system. Similarly, the helmet carrying system, with buckles for a bike helmet and elastic drawcords for poles,
and the bungee itself
doubles as a compression system for the pack
trailsense.enwild.com, keeping the load stable during movement.
- Waterproof cover
Built-in waterproof ripstop cover deploys while worn, resists tearing, and stays with pack.
Why this is supported
The cover is integrated into a dedicated pocket, so it is always with the pack and immediately accessible — a key advantage over aftermarket rain flies that are often misplaced.
The built-in waterproof cover is stored in a dedicated pocket and can be deployed while wearing the pack, fully protecting it from a downpour.

- Torso length
ONE SIZE pack fits torso lengths 38–43 cm, suiting shorter to medium builds.
Why this is supported
Catalog verified the pack's size tag reads 'ONE SIZE'. The back panel is a
fixed measurement; there is no adjustable torso-length system described in the features.
Is the back panel length adjustable for different torso sizes, or is it a fixed measurement?. Using the pack's 42 cm height and vest-like close fit — which

Weight: 556 g
maisonmargiela.com, a trade-off that favors short‑ to medium‑torso individuals. The twin sternum straps and wide hip belt can offset a 2–3 cm discrepancy, but cannot correct a significant length gap.
- Abrasion resistance
Polyamide-nylon body and ripstop rain cover resist trail abrasion.
Why this is supported
The backpack's body is composed of 100% polyamide-nylon, as indicated by the product specification.

Additionally, a user planning high-endurance use stated they were using the pack for a self-supported 100k that weekend, which demonstrates buyer confidence in the pack's ability to withstand rigorous trail conditions.

556 g pack achieves low weight without sacrificing wear resistance.
Why this is supported
The pack's weight is listed at 556 g, a figure that by itself might suggest a thin, lightweight construction. However, the material strategy relies on nylon tenacity and ripstop construction to handle wear, as described:
Weighing just 556 g for a full 20L, the XT-15 sits in the lightweight trail-running pack class, signaling a material strategy that strips thickness to save weight while relying on nylon tenacity and ripstop to handle wear
Durability and weather resistance — 556_g_20l_weight_to_volumeThis indicates that the thinness does not compromise long-term wear resistance.

Salomon XT15 owner shares experience with laptop fit and running comfort
I have the xt15 and a 14" laptop. Never done run commuting before but I have the same issue as the person with the cross 15, in that I can fit my laptop but it deforms the pack a bit. I think a 13" laptop without a sleeve/case would fit, but would definitely be better to try it on in store or buy from somewhere with a good returns policy. Other than that I think it's a decent pack, though it's the first and only pack I've owned. A little bit of bounce and my shirt tends to ride up my back, but generally pretty comfy. Using it for a self supported 100k this weekend.
