Product Insights
The Satisfy Rippy Soft Cap is a 24-gram running cap from an Italian mill, designed to stay stable without bounce even under a headlamp, with a soft pliable brim that prevents forehead dig and a stretchy, drawcord-adjusted fit for larger heads up to 7½. Its sealed 100% polyamide fabric beads water, wicks sweat, dries fast, resists odor, and holds shape after repeated packing, but standard version traps heat—the Rippy Air variant offers ventilation for hot runs. Despite its silky, almost flimsy feel, buyers report it indestructible, and purchase grants access to Satisfy's global Running Cult Member Strava community.
Verified claims
- Head fit
- Fits snugly on many larger heads; the elastic band and deeper crown help, but it may still be too small for some.
- Fit adjustment
- Stretchy lining and drawcord adjust fit; drawcord cinches cap for pocket storage.
- On-head feel
- 24g cap stays stable without bounce; soft visor prevents forehead dig when pulled low.
- Comfort
- Soft pliable brim prevents forehead digging, even under a headlamp.
- Packability
- Crumples flat and holds its shape after repeated packing.
- Wind stability
- The short soft visor stays stable in wind, with no bounce or flutter.
- Fabric performance
- 100% polyamide Rippy fabric visor beads water, wicks sweat, dries fast, and resists odor.
- Weight
- At 24 g, it is lighter than Janji AFO (29 g) and Trail Goddess Eos (30 g).
- Breathability
- The standard sealed Rippy fabric can run hot in warm conditions; the Rippy Air variant has visible ventilation holes and is better for hot weather.
- Weather resistance
- Sealed fabric repels rain; cap stays functional in steady rain without sagging.
- Convenience features
- Elastic drawcord secures fit in wind; detachable tag prevents chafing; cap packs small.
- Hand feel
- From a 1893 Italian mill, the silky fabric feels smooth; some perceive it as flimsy but it is tear-resistant.
- Stretch and fit
- 6% elastane lining provides stretch without constriction; adjustable cord and deep crown secure it on larger heads.
- Running suitability
- Runners praise the Rippy cap for daily training, but the standard sealed fabric can run hot in warm conditions; the Rippy Air is the better choice for hot runs.
- Overall durability
- Buyers report the cap holds up well despite its lightweight, flimsy hand feel.
- Material
- Tear-resistant, abrasion-resistant, water-resistant fabric with odor control extends cap life.
- Construction details
- Soft visor recovers shape after crushing; external tag reduces interior wear.
- Headlamp stability
- Peaceshell front panel holds headlamp strap securely while soft visor eliminates pressure points.
- Chafe prevention
- The fully detachable care tag removes an interior tag that can rub the back of the neck raw on long sweaty runs.
- Lightweight and weather
- At 24 grams with water-repellent fabric, the cap stays light and dry under a headlamp.
- Brand philosophy
- Satisfy describes itself as 'a skateboard brand for runners,' a positioning that gives the Rippy Soft Cap credibility beyond conventional running gear.
- Design philosophy
- A detachable care tag and 24 g weight eliminate interior friction for mental immersion.
- Price justification
- 125 CAD price reflects founder testing and Italian mill heritage.
- Community
- Purchase grants access to Satisfy’s global Running Cult Member Strava community.
- Founder involvement
- Founder personally tests every prototype on Paris runs.
- Peaceshell composition
- Peaceshell is a separate front-panel fabric that improves abrasion resistance but is less breathable than the main Rippy fabric; any weight difference is unspecified.
- Rippy Air comparison
- The Rippy Air is even lighter and more ventilated than the standard Rippy, with visible holes, making it the better hot-weather choice.
- Rippy model comparison
- Unlike the Trail Cap, which extends Peaceshell abrasion resistance across the entire brim, the Soft Cap restricts Peaceshell to the front panel, reducing brim structure to improve flexibility and packability.

| Rippy™ Soft Cap: Choose this if you want an ultra-lightweight (0.8 oz / 24 grams), packable running cap with a crushable soft brim and a headlamp-optimized front panel for low-light runs. Its Italian Rippy ripstop fabric resists tears and odours, wicks moisture, dries quickly, and offers built-in UPF 40+ sun protection at the front and back, with an elastic drawcord and cord lock for fit adjustment. One reviewer who runs in it regularly describes it as breathable and practically indestructible; note it is a low-profile five-panel cap with a short visor and comes in a single one-size fit in black.[1,2,3,4,5,6] | Rippy™ Micro-Perforated Soft Cap: Choose this if you want an ultra-lightweight running cap (24 grams) for dynamic activities where airflow and low weight matter. Its Japanese-developed Rippy Air micro-perforated ripstop fabric is designed to be water-repellent, fast-drying, odor-resistant, moisture-wicking and UV-protective, and an adjustable bungee cord with cord lock is intended to keep it steady through elevation changes and terrain shifts. One runner describes the Rippy hat as indestructible and wears it for nearly every run; note it comes only in black and a single one-size fit.[4,7,8,9] | Flitesilk™ Eagle Cap: Choose this if you want a super lightweight running cap (46 grams) in water-repellent FliteSilk nylon that Satisfy describes as built to resist wind and water while breathing freely, with a fast-drying build, inner sweatband, and an elastic drawcord with cord lock for fit adjustment. It suits wearers who prefer a low-profile, shallow-crowned fit with a short soft visor, though note the fabric does not stretch and one wearer found it less breathable with more head sweating. It comes in one size in black and needs gentle care: hand wash, no tumble drying, bleach, or dry cleaning.[10,11,12,13] |

Rippy cap praised as versatile and breathable
Rippy is the most versatile and breathable, but Peaceshell has better coverage due to the larger bill. I run in rippy and its kin most of the time.

Rippy Air recommended over Peaceshell for running

Direct comparison of PeaceShell Cordura and Rippy Air caps
I've got both the PeaceShell Cordura Trail Caps and Rippy Air Trail Caps. Can confirm what others say, both are very durable and will last as long as you're interested in them. Functionally they fit the same/feel the same though the Rippy Airs feel every so slightly lighter and have more ventilation (you can see the holes in the hat).

Rippy Air cap fits large head well with adjustable elastic
I’m a 7 1/2 in fitteds and own the Rippy Air cap. I absolutely hated the way it looked on my head at first, but I started to love it after a while. I think it looks really cool when the cap is worn low. The elastic band (which is also adjustable) makes the fit of the hat really forgiving, and at least for me, the cap is definitely deep enough, it never feels like it’s gonna fall off.
