I machine washed the 2 pairs in hot water and dried on high (regular) heat with other laundry, so when the elastic waist band is folded over, the length is fine. I didn't check for 'petite', and ordered small instead of x-small because I don't like a tight waistband. Would prefer drawstring. Fabric is v. soft, comfortable.
