Product Insights
This refillable glass match holder from family-owned Canadian manufacturer Yummi Candles offers a moisture-sealing cork cap and durable integrated striker for repeated use, costing about $0.11 per match initially and less with standard 2-inch refills, undercutting comparable products. The compact 1.5x2.75-inch design fits small surfaces, backed by a satisfaction guarantee and FSC-certified packaging, though the striker's longevity depends on refilling.
Verified claims
- Moisture resistance
- Cork cap repels surface moisture, resists mold, and compresses to limit humid air exchange, though it is not an airtight or watertight seal.
- Striker durability
- The integrated striker strip is designed for repeated use with refills, but it is a wear surface: striking across different parts of the strip extends its life, and many buyers report unreliable ignition from the included matches.
- Brand heritage
- Family-owned since 1976 with in-house production.
- Quality assurance
- Backed by a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and made by a National Candle Association member, signaling adherence to voluntary safety standards.
- Cost per match
- Costs $8 CAD for 50 matches, about $0.11 per match, undercutting Target's $0.14 per match.
- Compact footprint
- Occupies less vertical space than the Target Threshold cloche.
- Refill compatibility
- Takes standard 2-inch match refills; the side striker is designed for repeated use.
- Moisture protection
- Cork cap limits moisture and helps keep matches dry, but it is a friction-fit stopper rather than an airtight or watertight seal, so it won't reliably protect matches in a steamy bathroom.
- Sizing
- Compact jar measures 2.75 x 1.5 inches (7 x 4 cm) and fits standard 2-inch matches; the small footprint suits a mantle, coffee table, or other tight surface.
- Value
- At C$8, the included 50 matches cost about 16¢ CAD per match (roughly 11¢ USD).
- Satisfaction guarantee
- 100% customer satisfaction guarantee backs each purchase.
- FSC certification
- Packaging uses FSC-certified sourced materials.
- Cork cap
- Cork cap is a natural material; its suberin provides antimicrobial and water-repellent properties.
- Size
- Holder measures 2.75 x 1.5 inches, fitting easily beside a candle.
- Construction
- Clear glass jar has an integrated striker applied directly to the glass and a snug cork cap that limits moisture exchange, keeping the holder slim.
- Refillable
- Glass holder accepts standard 2-inch matches after the initial 50 are used.
- Included match type
- The included 50 white-tipped wooden matches are safety matches, not strike-anywhere; they are designed to ignite on the holder's integrated side striker.
- White variant glass clarity
- On the White variant, the glass jar is clear and translucent; the White color refers to the matches inside, so the white-tipped matches remain visible through the glass.
- Included match length
- The included wooden matches are 2 inches long and fit inside the 2.75-inch jar with the cork cap on, leaving roughly half an inch of clearance.
- Striker availability across color variants
- The integrated striker is a core part of the design and is applied to the glass on every color variant, including White and Assorted.
- Match odor
- The matches are standard wooden matches with no low-smoke or unscented claim, so expect the usual sulfur/match smell when struck.

Keeping matches handy on the mantle or coffee table
This glass match holder keeps matches organized and within reach, styled as an elegant accent for a mantle or coffee table. Reviewers praise the sturdy glass jar as a nicer upgrade from flimsy matchboxes. It comes as a set of 50.[1]
A decorative home for matches on the mantle or counter
Use this glass match holder to keep matches handy and organized while doubling as a small decor accent on a mantle, coffee table, countertop, or powder room. Customer reviews describe the jar as a sturdy, charming upgrade from flimsy cardboard matchboxes—one that draws compliments. Some note the striker on the lid can be inconsistent, so guests may occasionally fumble to get a light.[1]
A small gift for candle and home-decor lovers
Shoppers give this set of 50 matches in its glass holder as a present, with the elegant jar making for a delightful gift. One thing to know before gifting: the price sticker may tear the label when removed, which can spoil the unboxing experience.[1]
Keeping matches handy for lighting candles, with reported caveats
This glass match holder is meant to keep matches on hand for lighting candles and fires around the home. Customer reviews report the short matches make it awkward to reach deep jar-candle wicks, with a risk of burnt fingers, and many found the built-in side striker pad nearly ineffective, so an external lighter or replacement striker was often needed. Match quality is also reported as inconsistent, with some boxes containing matches that would not light at all.[1]

The matches are noticeably short, which can make lighting deep jar candles awkward, and many reviewers report the built-in striker pad barely ignites the matches while some boxes hold matches that will not light at all. Note that the strongly adhered price sticker may tear the label when removed, which matters if you are giving it as a gift.[1] | The Loft Match Glass Match Holder Set Of 75: Choose this if you want to keep matches handy with an elegant accent for a mantle or coffee table: a clear glass tube with a cork cap and side striker, sized about 8 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. Good solution
This little match jar is much more attractive and durable than match boxes. A solution I didn't know I needed!
Porte-allumettes
Le contenant est bien mais le collant du prix est impossible à retirer complètement sans déchirer l'étiquette originale du produit. Le grattoir pour allumer les allumettes ne sert à rien parce que c'est impossible d'y allumer l'allumette.
Discreet addition to the loo
A bit on the pricey side, but a sweet little addition to the loo. Matches are of great quality, and the striker, too.
Porte allumette
Non reçu !!!???
Convenient and cute
Nice container!
Looks great!
I like them but a bit pricey for what they are.
Fonctionne mal
Horrible matches they do not light
Worst matches ever. They don’t light at all. Not sure if I can return them. DO NOT BUY.
Bel emballage.
Se donne bien en cadeau
