Sipping on it as I type. A hearty thank you - this is a substantial improvement over the stock profiles and custom profiles I had been using prior. Does this rival my manual pour over? No. There is still a considerable loss of delicate notes and the output in cup isn’t good enough for me. I will continue to fiddle with grind settings with this Aiden profile to see if I can get it where I want it, but if this were a cup I made manually, I’d be disappointed.

Report of 'add water' error and poor customer support
I too had a similar experience and received the "add water" error over the weekend. I had purchased this brand new on ebay less than a year ago. Last February. After reaching out via email, I was swiftly told I should reach out to ebay for support as they are not an authorized retailer. I then was provided with a scripted email stating that it could be due to hard water (we have a water softener and a filter) and that there was nothing more they could assist with. My case was then closed. Pretty stunning lack of support

User finds automated brewers harder to dial in than manual pour over
Testing an xbloom right now and I have to agree with James on these machines. I just don't understand who they are meant for. I thought the coffee enthusiast to make life easier while still getting great coffee, but they all end up harder to get great tasting coffee than if I just sucked it up and did my pourover. They're harder to dial in. Who has time to put in all this time and effort to manipulate 10 settings for every bag of beans. Compounded with this added heat complexity with the Aiden. I end up with more cups that aren't great with most of these machines. The trade off for convenience is just too high when I'm spending $20+ on a bag of beans. I can quickly and regularly get great cups with my cheap setup.

User experienced repeated 'add water' sensor failures across three units
Here’s my story. Purchased my Aiden on Amazon 2 months ago. Made great coffee for 3 weeks and then the “Add water” message popped up (when the tank was full). Customer service said my water was too hard (I was using spring water) and that was tripping a sensor. Replaced and got a second unit which I used tap water with. Two weeks into that one, “Add water” error pops up (again, when the tank was full”. Again, customer service said it was still my water. I ran the descaling procedure as suggested and the add water error continued. Customer service (was escalated to a manager) gave me the option of refunding my money or getting a third unit with a “new filter system”. I opted for the newer unit over the refund as I did enjoy the coffee. New unit arrived and I used nestle pure life filtered water. Ten days into the new unit….Add water error shows up. Just got my money back as I’d had enuf. Bottom line…coffee is good, unit is poorly designed. Save yourself the aggregation $400….do not buy this machine.

Balanced review highlighting software and sensor issues but excellent coffee
It’s got a few growing pains, but it’s well worth it IMHO. The software has a long way to go, missing key features and a bit buggy; they have released one feature update though, so that’s promising. If we see regular updates with new features the software should be in good shape in a year or two. If they don’t release software regularly that would be disappointing. The build quality isn’t bad, but I bet they’ll make changes in later versions. The water reservoir’s sensor seems to be a bit fiddly, that’s something they’ll probably fix. Same with the carafe presence sensor, although perhaps not as bad. The carafe does not hold heat as well as it could, it’s not horrible, but it could be significantly better with proper vacuum walls. I wouldn’t be surprised if they release a better carafe, perhaps even offer it as an upgrade. They do have other products that fill the role if you’re using manual brew, but an improved carafe would be a huge upgrade. I haven’t tried Fellow Drops yet, but the Aiden makes excellent coffee with the fancy beans I buy. It’s head and tails better than the Ratio 8 I was using, and so far hasn’t broken, which is also better than the Ratio 8. Despite the shortcomings I recommend it if you want good coffee without much hassle.
