Racerback Elongated Cami
The Racerback Elongated Cami is a sleeveless top from Rick Owens, cut from sheer 100% organic cotton jersey in an elongated, slim fit with a crew neck, racerback, vertical back seam, and raw-cut hem. It is made in Italy and designed for use as a lightweight layering piece, with its translucent fabric and long silhouette reflecting the brand's structural aesthetic. Owner reviews note that the material is very thin, stretches over time, and may be see-through in bright light, so careful handling and possible sizing up are recommended.

Product Insights
The Rick Owens Racerback Elongated Cami is a unisex men's-listed top that uses an elongated hem and raw, curling edge as deliberate house signatures, with a sheer open-knit organic cotton jersey that breathes and wicks moisture while transmitting light; black minimizes transparency. Priced at 79.95 CAD and currently out of stock in all sizes, it demands attention to fit and maintenance: sizing up improves comfort but sacrifices the intended second-skin silhouette, and the untreated cotton shrinks 2–5% in home laundering, lacks elastane for recovery, and can bag permanently at the fragile raw edge, so it must be washed cold and flat-dried, never hung by the hem. The design's tradeoff is between an intentional, elongated aesthetic and a delicate fabric that needs careful handling.
Verified claims
- Raw hem
- The raw hem is a house signature: cut from single-knit cotton jersey, it rolls softly rather than unravels, and the edge becomes more defined with wear; some note a fringed patina can develop.
- Elongated silhouette
- Hemline extends past hips; the long line expresses Owens's elongation-and-obfuscation house code.
- Gender
- Listed as men's, but Simons also carries it as unisex in women's designer.
- Fit
- Between sizes, sizing up improves comfort but loses the intended second-skin silhouette.
- Stretch
- Widthwise stretch conforms; with no elastane, the cotton has limited recovery after wear.
- Shrinkage
- Home laundering shrinks untreated cotton jersey by 2–5%, first visible at the raw edge.
- Durability
- Without elastane, the cotton jersey only recovers modestly, so wear and sagging appear first at the fragile raw edge.
- Design philosophy
- On Rick Owens pieces, the raw-cut hem and elongated tail are deliberate signature details, not flaws.
- Sheerness
- This cami is made from 100% organic cotton jersey with no synthetic blends; its sheer, translucent finish comes from the open fine-knit loops that transmit light, and the black colorway reads less transparent.
- Breathability
- The same open knit that makes it sheer lets air pass and the cotton wicks moisture, keeping it cool.
- Recovery
- Without elastane, the 100% cotton can bag permanently with wear and washing — silk-viscose holds shape.
- Care
- Cold gentle wash in a garment bag; dry flat, never tumble, and never hang from the raw hem.
- Restock size choice
- Size by chest and torso rather than the department label; if between sizes, size up.
- Variant parity
- All four sizes are equally out of stock and identically priced — no size has an availability or cost edge.
- Racerback design
- This cami has a true racerback back rather than a standard straight tank back, as part of its advertised construction.
- Back seaming
- The back has a single vertical seam; the listing does not specify whether the centre-back or armhole seams are reinforced, though the neckline and straps have double topstitching.
- Colourfastness
- Colourfastness is not specified for the black dye; hand wash cold and dry flat to minimise dye loss, and wash black pieces separately for the first few washes.

Honest assessment of Rick Owens tank tops' quality and value
They’re very very thin and fragile and they will most likely hug your body. If you’re happy looking at your torso naked then you’ll probably like them. They just put a thin veil over your body. People can see right through them when light hits them. They’re a pain to wash but hug your skin so they do get pretty filthy. They are ridiculously priced for what they are. If that’s the look you want then that’s up to you to decide if you can afford it. I love mine but I’d hesitate to recommend them. They stretch a lot as well
